Variations on a theme by Shostakovich is a set of 4 variations on a theme from the 2nd movement of Cello Sonata in D minor, op. 40 by Dimitri Shostakovich. It was composed during my first year as a composition student at the Iceland Academy of the Arts and premiered by Ragnar Jónsson (vlc) and Einar Bjartur Egilsson (pno).
